I just got a Canon EOS 400D and I decided to just have fun taking pictures… photography is expensive by the way because they like to charge over $300 dollars for even cheap lenses. Well you have cheap and good lenses like 50mm f/1.8 for around $100 but everything else costs way more, so some creativity is needed. I love macro and honestly I don’t think I will have money to go around buying macro lenses seeing that they START at $600! Makes the camera look cheap in comparison. I might try and turn one of my lens into a macro lens by using a pringle can… (or buy a cheap FD lens just for that purpose)

I really love night shots though, and this camera opened a lot of possibility. Night shots are difficult, even with a DSLR, and most likely impossible with a point and shoot (unless you are really good) because you need long exposure times, big aperture and very steady hands (or a tripod). With a DSLR things are a little easier since you not only have more control, but with a fast lens like the 50mm f/1.8 you can hand hold most shots if you are shooting something illuminated with a street light, anything darker and you will require a tripod, since you’d have to expose for many seconds or longer…
